The goal of this is to increase the care and protection of ancestral burial sites and ancestral skeletal remains through traditional and contemporary repatriation practices and whose project objective is that by the end of 36 months, 300 Native Hawaiians from the 6 islands will improve their ability to protect and care for ancestral Hawaiian skeletal remains by achieving competency in three of the five repatriation and reburial practice including: (1) ceremonial protocol; (2) reburial materials; (3) reburial platforms; (4) repatriation advocacy; and (5) burial site management to protect burial sites in place, and to return the bones from museums around the world for reburial.
